Equestria Girls: Spirit of Friendship Ch. 9

“He did it! They did it!! We Won!! Whoooop!!!” Fluttershy jumps up and down, screaming and whooping for Courageous and the rest of Wondercolts. This is the first time she has shouted this loud at anything.

“YEEEE-HAAWWW!!” Applejack throws her hat up into the air, catches it as it comes back down, and hugs her brother Big Mac, “We did it, Big Mac!”

“Eeyup!!” The big brother expresses in one word, as he hugs his sister back.

Rarity, usually able to keep herself from shouting and screaming because of her lady-like nature, cannot hold it inside any longer. Her excitement over this major victory causes her to scream with much anticipated excitement and joy.

Spike yips happily and hops all about.

Principles Celestia, Luna, and Cadance all jump out of their seats and cheer for their students. Even Shining Armor and the Mayor join in. Chrysalis growls and snorts…having nothing to be happy about.

Rainbow is helped out onto the field by her team, where she meets up with the others. She is so proud of them all; Their hard work, determination, and teamwork drove them to this much earned victory. Pinkie Pie, Sunset, and Twilight all hug and are thrilled that everything turned out just as they hoped it would. The rest of the cheerleaders join in, and eventually they all run out onto the field to praise the Wondercolts…and the one player responsible for this win.




As the Diamond Dogs move off the field, Gilda and Lightning stomp their feet in anger; Not only have they lost, but now they have to be the Wondercolt’s cleanup crew for the next year. A very embarrassing job.

Twilight meets up with all the girls and guys on the field. She embraces Courageous tightly and expresses how proud she is of him, “You did it, Courageous! I just knew you would!”

While the young champion admires Twilight and her kind compliment, he shakes his head, “No, Twilight. WE did it.”

She looks up at him in confusion, but only slightly “Courageous…?”

“It was you who gave us all the strength and courage to rise up and face our fears…and win the Canterlot Cup,” He reminds, explaining that none of them would be here or have come this far if it were not for her.

The young cheerleader smiles warmly and hugs him again, “Thank you, Courageous…”

He smiles and hugs her back. The others are watching and find Courageous and Twilight together to be so adorable and sweet. They let them hug for a bit longer, before the presenting of the Canterlot Cup can begin.








The Wondercolt Soccer players, Cheerleaders, and students all pick up Courageous and carry him over their heads, chanting his name over and over. He is Canterlot High’s newest Champion. One they can be proud of.

Twilight, Rainbow, Pinkie, Sunset, Fluttershy, Flash, Applejack, and Spike are proud as well. Soon, they are all lifted up in the air and their names are chanted along with Courageous. Every one of them played a part in this, and they will always be remembered as the ones who saved Canterlot High.

The rest of those that attended, the entire city itself, are proud of how far these young people have come and how much they have strived to save their beloved school and prove they can be so much more.

Even the Mayor herself is proud, and in awe to all that she has seen tonight. She and the others all walk out onto the field, with the Canterlot cup being carried by some of her own. “Never in my days as mayor have I seen such teamwork and determination!” She expresses, speaking into a microphone so all can hear her, “Every one of you have proven that you have what it takes to go the distance.”

Everybody cheers, along with the teachers and principles. Twilight however, seeing that the trophy is now within her reach, grabs her Element of Magic out of her pack…ready to put an end to the Darkness hiding within it. She hopes to get a shot at it once the Mayor finishes her speech.

“Now, without further adue, I shall now pronounce the Canterlot Wondercolts the-”

The Mayor is suddenly interrupted as the stadium lights all go out; Someone has without a doubt shut them off. The place becomes dark, but still visible. Everyone gasps and screams…until they hear another voice shout through a microphone of his own…



“SILENCE!!!” The ruthless billionaire know as Tirek orders as he and his bodyguards move in and surround everyone on the field.

“Tirek?! What is the meaning of this?!” The Mayor demands an explanation. Even the rest of the crowd wants to know the very same. “What are you doing?!”

The cruel man in the rich, black suit just gives an amusing chuckle and grins, “It is time to put an end to this charade!”

“What charade?!” The confused Mayor questions, and demands and answer from him.

He grins and holds his cane tight in his hand, “Where I pretend to keep my end of the bargain if Canterlot wins the Cup!”

The crowd gasp and cannot believe what they are hearing. Twilight is the most shocked and tries to move passed everyone in order to get to the trophy. The girls notice and follow her.

“What?! Are you saying you never planned to honor the agreement?!” Principle Celestia questions in shock and disgust.

He chuckles and smirks, “That is not the only agreement I planned to never honor…” He turns his gaze to Principle Chrysalis, referring to the one he made with his so called partner.

The dark, skinned woman with the dark green hair gasps and clutches her fist, “You promised you would contribute to the school!!!”

Tirek snorts and turns away from her, “I lied…”

Chrysalis growls, “You…monster! Why…?!”

“Hmph! You and your school have served their purpose…and now…I no longer need you!” He turns back to everyone and shouts, “Now that everything has gone according to plan…its time to take that which is mine!”

“What are you talking about?!” Vice Principle Luna remarks, “You plan to take over our school?!”

He laughs maniacally at her, “This school?! No…” He grips his cane tighter in his one hand and holds out the other, “I plan…to take…EVERYTHING!!!” He reveals as he grips his fist.

Twilight and her friends reach the cup and stand by it, “That’s not going to happen, Tirek!” She puts on her Element and stands with her friends, “I already know what is hidden in the Canterlot Cup…and I wont let you take it, or this city!”

Tirek growls at the young cheerleader and shakes his head, “You think you can stop me?!!!”

“Yes, we can!” Captain Shining Armor and his unit step forward, “You are under arrest, Tirek! We will see to it that you and your goons will spend a long time in prison from this dishonorable act!”

Tirek clutches his fists and growls, “Prison?! Foolish cop! No prison can hold me…not even the one that held me…FOR OVER FOUR-THOUSAND YEARS!!!”

While everyone else is confused at what Tirek just said, Twilight and Spike know fully well what he means; It even answers the question they hoped to have answered…though they dreaded it. It is now loud and clear:

“Spike…” Twilight gulps in shock, “This world’s Tirek…is the same one from back home.”

Spike whimpers and nods, “It sure is, Twilight. But…that doesn’t mean we cant stop him, right? Even if…it’s just us?”

Twilight has no answer for that, but tries to stay strong and hopes Spike is right. She suddenly gasps when she feels someone holding her hand. She looks to her left and sees Courageous smiling at her…being there for her. She blushes and holds his hand, feeling her confidence rising once again. She turns her attention to the Canterlot Cup, and hopes that the Element of Magic alone will be strong enough to banish the Darkness from this world forever.

Twilight focuses and tries to summon the power of Magic and Light quickly before Tirek can make a move towards the cup. However…it is already too late…




“I DON’T THINK SO, TWILIGHT SPARKLE!!!” Tirek roars. He holds out his hand once again, and the Canterlot Cup is pulled away and right into his hand so quickly hardly anyone sees it.

Twilight gasps as she sees the cup in Tirek’s possession, “No…”

The entire crowd is shocked upon seeing that move by the corrupt tyrant know as Tirek. While some became frightened by it, some still remain strong.

“Return that trophy immediately!!” The Mayor demands.

Tirek just laughs and holds the cup up high for all to see, “You want this back?! Then you shall have it…along with a small taste…OF MY POWER!!!” He bellows as the Canterlot Cup is slowly turned from a golden color to a wicked black. The trophy rises up into the air, right above Tirek.

“Now, you fools! Behold…THE POWER…OF DARKNESS!!!!!!!!” The evil billionaire roars as his voice becomes darker and far more deeper.

Everyone screams in fear as the Darkness within the Canterlot Cup is released. It spreads into the air, darkening the sky with massive storm clouds…thundering crashes of lightning striking everywhere. It quickly spreads over Canterlot High…and the rest of the city. Everybody is in a panic as the ground shakes and the storms only get worse. They try to run away or take cover, but their efforts are for not…for the one responsible for this rises up into the air…and begins to change his form.

NOW BEHOLD…MY TRUE FORM!!!!” Tirek bellows as his body changes shape; He gains a pair of horns, another pair of legs with hooves, and his entire body becomes that…of a demonic centaur.

Everybody scream in terror as the massive demon stands before them, in all his anger and cruelty. But what frightens them more is that of the bodyguards that serve this monster; They slowly transform into that of demon gargoyles, rising into the air and surrounding everyone that tries to escape.

As they scream for help, the Master of Darkness stomps his hoof and shouts, “SILENCE!!!”

Everyone immediately quiets down, although they want nothing more than to continue.

“YES…THAT IS BETTER!!”

Twilight and all her friends gather together, staying as close as possible. Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow, Pinkie, Sunset, and Flash are afraid, but they do their best to stay strong in this dark situation. Even Courageous does his best and is showing little signs of fear anyway.

“What do we do, Twilight…?” Spike whispers as he hides in her arms.

“I don’t know, Spike…” She replies, fearing for what will become of the entire city and the rest of this world.

“NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, IT IS TIME…FOR MY NEW EMPIRE…TO RISE!!!!!!!” Tirek calls forth the Dark Cup and merges it with his cane…forming a new scepter. He holds it tight, and then raises it up high, “HAVE A TASTE…OF MY POWER!!!”

A dark energy comes forth from the scepter and spreads across the field. The people become so terrified of what it could do, they run once again from it as best they can. But like before, they cannot escape the inevitable.

“No! Don’t run!” Courageous yells, trying to get them to stop and stand firm, but they do not listen. Their fear of the Darkness is too great. As the crowd of people try to escape, while pushing through everyone in their way, Courageous gets pushed away from Twilight and the others. Flash and Sunset as well.

“No!!” Twilight cries as her friends become separated, but luckily the other five embrace Twilight and stay as close as possible, allowing their friendship to protect them from the Darkness.








The power of Darkness spreads all over and moves into the minds of the many people panicking on the soccer field. The corrupting energy brings them all to a halt…and they begin to change shape. Every student, teacher, and citizen is quickly possessed and turned into the very same as the bodyguards that serve Tirek without question: monstrous gargoyles.

Flash and Sunset embrace after find each other when they got separated. But once they see the dark mist approaching them, they hold onto each other tight…as the Darkness takes them.

Sunset feels strange and gasps in horror as her hands, legs and the rest of her changes; She begins to transform into a demon gargoyle much like the last time…only she is to become a servant of a far greater evil, “Flash!!” She screams for her boyfriend.

“Sunset!!” Flash tries to help her, but feels himself going through a similar transformation. He tries to fight it, but it is no use. Claws, fangs, and wings start to appear, and the rest of him changes soon too.

Just like that, Sunset and Flash become loyal servants of the Dark Master…and cannot help but snarl and kneel before him.




Principles Celestia, Luna, Cadance, and Chrysalis try to help their students escape, but the Darkness eventually gets to them. They slowly transform into the same monstrous creatures…ready to serve their new master.

Shining Armor and his unit try to help the others escape too, but like all the others, they fall prey to the dark corruption as well. They now move from protectors of the city to servants of the Darkness.

Eventually, many other students and teachers are transformed into gargoyles: Big Macintosh, Trixie, Snips, Snails, Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Ms. Cheerilee, Gilda, Lightning Dust, Soarin, Spitfire, and so many more.

As the transformations occur, Tirek just stands there…laughing manically at all the screams, panicking, and the corruption that fills these once innocent citizens of this beautiful city. Within minutes, everybody in the entire stadium has turned into a monstrous servant of the demon centaur. The only ones left untouched are Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Spike. Courageous however, is nowhere to be found.



“Noooo!!!” Rainbow screams as she sees her best friends all become monstrous creatures.

“I’m…s-s-s-so…sc-sc-scared…” Fluttershy whimpers and tries to hide herself.

“Dis don’t look good…” Applejack honestly admits as she watches the whole town turn into the things they all despise.

“I’m not liking this…” Pinkie nervously shivers, feeling her happiness slipping away, and her hair going flat.

Rarity is so shocked by all that she sees, that she faints and falls backwards…only to be caught by Applejack and Rainbow.

Twilight looks all around and sees everyone become a wicked, winged demon; This is just like what happened back in Equestria around a year ago…only she is trapped in the middle of it with no hope of escape.

“Twilight, do something! Call the Rainbow of Light or something!” Spike pleads, wanting this reoccurring nightmare to end; The little dog stays close to his friend, not wanting to become evil again like last time.

Twilight gathers her friends together and hopes their friendship can help defeat Tirek. But before they can, the Darkness surrounds the group and traps them. “Oh no…!”

Tirek laughs and steps forward, with his army of demon gargoyles surrounding the dark prison sphere, “NOT THIS TIME, TWILIGHT SPARKLE!” He points at them and growls, “THERE WILL BE NO RAINBOW OF LIGHT TO STOP ME NOW!”

Twilight refuses to accept defeat like this, “You’re wrong, Tirek! We stopped you once, we can stop you again!”

Tirek smirks at that notion and snaps back, “STOP ME?! YOU…PRACICALLY HANDED ME…MY VICTORY!!!”

Twilight shakes her head in confusion, “Wha…?”

“DON’T YOU SEE?! YOUR LITTLE PLAN TO GATHER ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND THE REST OF THE CITY…TO WATCH THIS PATHETIC GAME…WAS ALL APART OF MY PLAN!!” Tirek reveals.

“No…” The young cheerleader refuses to believe that she helped him, “...I never-”

“BUT YOU DID!!” Tirek continues to prove that Twilight had a hand in this, even if she didn’t know, “BECAUSE OF YOU, EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE CITY GATHERED HERE TO WATCH THE WONDERCOLTS WIN…AND WHAT THEY GOT…WAS WITNESSING MY RETURN TO POWER!!”

Twilight tries not to listen, but Tirek words are becoming harder to disbelieve, “No…”

“MY PLANS WOULD HAVE TAKEN LONGER IF YOU HAD NOT COME HERE, BUT YOUR ACTIONS ONLY MADE IT HAPPEN THAT MUCH QUICKER!!” Tirek laughs, in which his gargoyle servants join in, “HOW MUCH GREATER MY VICTORY IS…KNOWING IT’S ALL! YOUR!! FAULT!!!”

The gargoyle servants all gather around the prison sphere and chant the same words over and over, “It’s your fault, Twilight Sparkle! Your Fault! YOUR FAULT!!”

Twilight tries to block it out, but she cannot. Even with her friends trying to convince her it isn’t her fault, their voices are overpowered by the ones that were once her friends. Finally, she falls to her knees and cries. “He’s…right…” Twilight sniffs, “I…I did b-b-bring this…” She covers her face and sheds more tears, “It…it's all…my fault.”

The girls and Spike hugs her and try to help comfort their friend the best way they can, even as the harsh words of Tirek and his army only make things worse. Right now, they cannot escape from their prison…and with Twilight’s spirit fallen so far, she cannot summon her Element to aid them.

It looks like Tirek may have just won…at long last.
