Below the City of Canterlot, in the lowest chambers of the Castle, is where the dungeons resided. Here is where the rulers of Equestria would place certain ponies for crimes and bad behavior. Usually, the dungeon was empty since there had been no reason to use it…until now.
By order of Princess Celestia, Twilight Sparkle, her now former student, was to be placed in a cell with her friends. There, they would remain until the Princess was ready to release them. A guard stood watch over the door to the cell, and was ignoring a certain pony that was annoying him from within.
“Hey, you!” Rainbow Dash tried to get his attention, “Yeah, I’m talking to you, bud! Let us out of here!!!”
The guard continued to ignore the mare with the big mouth.
“Don’t ignore me! I’m talking to you!!”
Applejack grabbed Rainbow and pulled her down from the door, “Pipe down already, Rainbow! It’s not helpin’!”
“I can’t help it, AJ!” Rainbow found that the cell they were in had very little room to fly in. It was all dark brick with no window; Nothing but a small touch kept the room lit, “I need to fly!!”
Applejack shook her head and sighed. She looked on back and saw Pinkie and Fluttershy just sitting there…saddened by what happened; This was one situation that neither of them could fix…even with a smile.
“Will you ruffians shush!” Rarity ordered.
They all turned to the prissy pony and immediately fell silent when they saw her and Spike trying to comfort the tearful Twilight Sparkle over in the corner. Twilight laid upon a small haystack and had her face buried in her arms; Her tears soaked her coat as she wept…wishing this wasn’t happening, “Princess…*sniff*……Celestia…*sniff*…why…?”
Rarity gently stroked her mane and tried everything to help her dear friend. The other ponies felt sad for Twilight; She had just lost her position as Princess Celestia’s star student…and her heart felt shattered.
The little brokenhearted unicorn continued to weep into her arms and could not stop…no matter how much she wanted to. As she cried, she remembered this exact situation that she was in some time ago…and how her beloved stallion came to her and made it all better.
With what strength in her voice that she had, she whispered for him, hoping he would hear her…and come to her rescue. “Courageous. Please…help us. Help…me…”
Far to the north, where the Crystal Empire resided, the many crystal ponies were scurrying about to search the Empire for the missing Royal Messenger and any other imposters that were in disguise. The messenger was eventually found, tied up in a cellar.
Meanwhile, the Champion saw that there were no other imposters in the Empire, thanks to his vision granted to him by the Light. With the all clear, the guards returned to their stations, leaving the Prince and Princess to question all that happened.
“So…how did you know it was an imposter?” Shining Armor curiously asked.
“It is easy, actually,” Courageous Heart explained, “The Light allows me to see through any deception…no matter how well it is done. I could see the true form of the imposter impersonating your messenger.”
“Really? So…you can see through any form of trickery?”
“Yes. As it says in the oath I swore: “No evil shall evade my sight.” Therefore, I can see any evil…in anypony or other.” He confessed.
Cadance and Shining Armor were amazed by this; They even wondered if things would have been different if he were around at their wedding that time ago…but now was not the time to think on that. Suddenly, Courageous gasped and ran to the balcony, and stared out into the distance to the south…towards Canterlot.
“What is it, Courageous?” Cadance asked.
“Twilight…” The Champion whispered with worry.
Shining Armor gasped, “Twili? What’s going on? What happened to my sister?!”
Courageous focused and felt a great disturbance in the Light…coming from Canterlot. He snorted and turned back to the rulers of this Kingdom.
“Well…what was it?” Princess Cadance asked.
“Danger…coming from the Capital,” He nodded firmly, “We have to get back to Canterlot, and fast!”
“Well then, I’m coming with you! I’m not going to let anything happen to Twili,” Shining Armor insisted, “She has saved me on many occasions…and now it’s my turn to do the same.”
Courageous Heart understood and would not turn down Shining Armor’s help.
“Um, dear…you seem to be forgetting that Canterlot is too far away and we will never get there in time…” Cadance reminded her over-determined husband.
“Oh…yeah…sorry dear, I forgot,” He squeed and blushed.
“Actually, we can get there…with the help of the Light,” Courageous revealed.
The two were about to question how that was possible, but after everything they had ever seen the Light do, they did not ask.
“I guess we should round up the troops if we are going to Canterlot…since it is infected with our enemy,” Shining Armor suggested.
Courageous shook his head.
“What do you mean by that?”
He explained, “No army. Just the three of us is enough. This needs to be handled with stealth, not a frontal assault…especially when our enemy is using the same to acquire something that can give them the power to take over Equestria.”
Shining Armor and Princess Cadance knew he was right, but trying to do all this without backup seemed pretty risky.
“Don’t worry. There is already an army in Canterlot that can help us…but I have another that can buy us some time while we mount a rescue,” Courageous informed.
“Who is that?” The Princess curiously asked.
“You will see, but for now we need to get back to Canterlot,” Courageous moved back into the throne room, “Come to me, and I will teleport us to the Capital.”
The two followed and await for Courageous to summon the Light and teleport them to the where the danger was taking place: Their foalhood home of Canterlot.
“But there will be more I will need to inform you on; Things that you may not understand nor agree with, but you must trust me,” Courageous asked for their faith in him.
Shining Armor and Princess Cadance nodded; They trusted him already, and would not deny him now…especially when he uncovered a deception right here in their Kingdom.
“Thank you…” He smiled and summoned the Light, “Here we go!!” The Light surrounded the three ponies, while the guards watched in awe. Courageous Heart chanted the words needed for this, and soon the Light would transport them immediately to Canterlot.
Back in Ponyville, Courageous Heart’s pet and friend, Aquila the golden eagle, slept on the roof of her master’s cottage. She was keeping herself ready for any dangers that may come at anytime. The eagle awoke when she felt the presence of her master through the Light. She relaxed and listened:
“Aquila…I need your help. Gather your friends…stop the meeting in Canterlot. Please…you must prevent the evil there from succeeding…”
Aquila obeyed her master and friend. She flapped her wings and took off. She quickly gathered the pets of the Mane Six: Owlicious the owl, Gummy the alligator, Opal the cat, Winona the dog, Tank the turtle, Angel the bunny, and Pee-Wee the baby Phoenix.
With the strength and speed of Aquila the golden eagle, she carried the group…those that could not fly…towards the city of Canterlot…in hopes to stall the meeting so the Champion could complete his rescue.
The Light flashed lightly and Courageous Heart, Shining Armor, and Princess Cadance found themselves in Canterlot, hiding behind a wall in the Castle grounds. “I can’t believe we were able to reach Canterlot in just seconds…” Shining Armor stated in awe; Never had he experienced the Light’s potential in this way, and it left him almost speechless.
“I have to agree with you, my Shining Armor…” Cadance supported, amazed by such power that makes up all Harmony and Good.
“I’m glad you all admired that…but now we need to stay quiet and find our way to where Twilight and her friends are being held,” Courageous whispered.
The three carefully peeked from where they were hiding and noticed the many Royal Guards patrolling and watching their stations. Shining Armor noticed that there were more of them than he had known during his time as the Captain, “So…I take it that some of the guards…are THEM?”
“Yes…” Courageous confirmed quietly, “If we reveal ourselves to any of the guards, whether they be real or imposters, the whole place could go on alert and all this will end in failure.”
Shining Armor and Cadance agreed.
“Also, remember what I told you that is needed to be done when the time comes…” Courageous reminded.
“Don’t worry…we have not forgotten,” Cadance replied, but then said, “Even though I don’t like it and have to question…why?”
“Trust me…I know them more than you do…because I was once friends with them…”
The two did not have time to argue nor question Courageous’s plan further…not at this time anyway, “Alright…we will follow what you think is best, my friend,” Shining Armor supported.
“Same here…” Cadance agreed as well.
“Thank you…” He smiled, happy that his girlfriend’s brother and sister-in-law had his back in all this, “Alright…this way, follow me.”
Courageous carefully led them through the grounds, avoiding all the guards easily. They had to reach the dungeons as quickly as they could…and hoped to free the girls and reach the meeting in time to stop a powerful creature from taking Equestria for herself.
Meanwhile, in the meeting room, the negotiations were finally complete. The Gryphons were ready to finish this meeting and present the Arcane Amulet to Princess Celestia.
“Well, I must say…this was quite an interesting experience, Princess Celestia,” The Gryphon King admitted.
“Thank you,” The great while alicorn gave her gratitude.
“Despite that little interruption, you really have shown us that you and your Kingdom are more than capable of having an even greater peace and friendship with our own,” The Gryphon Queen assured.
The Princess nodded and smiled, while her sister, Luna, still felt sad for Twilight and the others being thrown in the dungeon like that; She was starting to question Celestia and the decisions she has made recently.
“But will we still get to meet the Champion?” Princess Talona asked with hope.
Princess Celestia answered, “Oh don’t you worry…there will be plenty of time to meet the Champion later.” Her voice sounded a little off.
Princess Luna noticed this and was starting to become more concerned with all this. She was about to speak up when the Guards brought in the cake.
“The cake had arrived, your Majesties!” The guard announced.
Both Subira and Chief Thunderhooves were hungry and were ready to eat; all that negotiating tired them out a little.
“Before we dig in, I think now might be a good time to exchange gifts,” The Princess suggested.
The Gryphon Royal family were originally planning to wait until the Champion arrived before giving the Arcane Amulet to the Princess.
“Uh sister…maybe we should wait until-” Princess Luna tried to speak to her sister.
Princess Celestia slowly turned to her sister. She looked at her and her eyes suddenly glowed green…which made Luna’s do the same, “Wait until what, dear sister?”
“Um…nothing. Now is…a good time…” Luna spoke in a monotone voice, while her eyes remained a little green.
“”Perhaps we should wait, since the hour is not late,” Subira suggested, only to have her own eyes turn green. The zebra representative of Equestria was now rhyming in monotone, “Perhaps now is good, while we enjoy this delicious food.”
Chief Thunderhooves was about to say something, until his own eyes turned green and he just sat there, silently.
The Gryphons were not sure what was going on, but if everypony there thought it was a good time, then so be it. The King pulled out the locked box that had the Amulet in it, and began to work the combination on it that only he and his family knew how to open. While this was being done, none of them noticed Princess Celestia grinning wickedly.
Deep beneath Canterlot Castle, the Mane Six, plus Spike, were still imprisoned in the cell Princess Celestia put them in. Twilight was still crying over losing her role as student to the Princess, while the others tried to comfort her.
Suddenly they heard a noise coming from outside the cell. “Hey! What are you doing in-” The guard spoke, only to be slammed against the wall and knocked unconscious.
Suddenly, the cell door opened and the girls all gasped to whom they saw before them. Twilight looked up and gasped in utter surprise. “Courageous…Shining Armor…Cadance…?” She muttered as she wiped her tears.
“Yes, Twilight…it is us…” Courageous assured her with a warm smile.
Overcome with joy, Twilight got up and ran to embrace her coltfriend. She held him tight and cried, for her pleas for him to come and rescue her were answered.
“It’s okay, Twilight…it’s okay,” He rubbed her head and comforted her in a soft and caring tone.
“No, it’s not…” She sniffed as she held onto her boyfriend, while Shining Armor and Cadance tried to help comfort her too, “I failed Celestia, and now…*sniff*…now I am no longer her student…”
Shining Armor interrupted, “No Twili. what happened was not real. All this has been a trick.”
“What do you mean a trick?” Rainbow asked.
“He means is that everything you discovered to be out of place was correct,” Cadance added.
“I’m a little confused by all this…” Spike admitted, “What are you trying to say?”
“What we are trying to say…is that the one who placed you all in here…was NOT Princess Celestia,” Courageous informed his friends.
The group all gasped, especially Twilight, who released her boyfriend, “What…do you mean…that was not Celestia?”
“That was an imposter…”
“Well, if dats not da Princess…den who da hay is she?” Applejack wanted an answer to help clear up all this confusion.
“Sompony you know well enough…one who had the power to pull all this off,” Courageous tried to explain and help them remember.
The six thought on it a moment, and soon they realized that there was only one who could do this…but before they could answer, Courageous ran out of the cell and towards another. “Where…are you going?” Fluttershy asked.
Courageous knocked down the door and shined some Light on in, “Look…”
Everypony and dragon rush out of the cell and to the other. Once they look inside, they all gasp when they see a familiar pony bound by magical chains to prevent escape of any kind.
“Is that…?” Pinkie asked.
“Oh my word!” Rarity was about to faint; The ugly chains were so horrible, it made her feel lightheaded. Spike was able to catch her before she would faint. Courageous walked inside and was ready to free the imprisoned pony and get them all to the meeting room.
Back in the Meeting room, the Gryphon King was almost finished with the lock combination, “Almost there. I got most of the manual parts done…now the rest will unlock in a moment by itself.”
“That is good…” Princess Celestia smirked. She looked over at the others sitting still with their eyes glowing green, “This is almost too easy. In moments, all of Equestria shall be-” Suddenly, there was a sound of an eagle screeching outside. Celestia looked out at the window and gasped as a golden eagle, along with many other animals from the Castle Gardens, came rushing in…straight towards the Princess.
“What is going on here?!!” The king demanded as he and his family took cover under the table.
“I don’t know…!” Celestia panicked and tried to dodge the animals as they flew around her.
What happened next was a group of monkeys throwing bananas at her. She growled and tried to shoo them away with her magic…until she felt something bite her flank, Celestia screamed, only to be silenced by a watermelon thrown in her face.
She wiped it off and growled at the laughing monkeys, “You foolish creatures! How dare you-”
A group of seals came in and together they bounced Celestia on their noses in the air. She screamed and tried to flap her wings to fly, but could not due to her spinning as they bounced her. The guards tried to stop the animals, but there were too many of them and running all over the place.
“Let Me Down!!!” She demanded.
They obeyed and tossed her right into the cake.
The Gryphons and Guards gasped when they saw the Princess all covered in frosting. It was all over her coat and mane.
She snorted and was about to scream at the top of her lunges as she rose; the animals ruined her mane, and even her makeup. But before she could, the flying animals all pours buckets of waters onto her, soaking and ruining her mane and makeup even more. The enraged alicorn princess summoned her magic, which glowed green, and was about to cast a spell that would remove the animals from the room…until she smelt something burning.
She gasped when she turned and saw the Phoenix, Philomena, breathing a small amount of fire onto the one she knows is not her master. Celestia screamed and slipped on the wet floor, and fell into the cake again.
Suddenly, the doors to the Meeting room burst open and a total of ten creatures were now before the Gryphons and the messy Princess Celestia.
“DIGON!!!” The Champion yelled, which forced the animals to stop doing what he ordered them to. His voice even brought Princess Luna, Thunderhooves, and Subira out of the spell they were under.
Celestia rose up and growled, “What is the meaning of this intrusion?!!”
“We are here to put an end to your plans…once and for all!!” Twilight yelled.
“How dare you speak to me that way, Twilight Sparkle!!” She pointed her hoof at them, “Guards, seize them all!!”
Many were shocked to hear the Princess order such a thing. Some of the Guards were confused, but the rest charged at them. Courageous stepped forward and when the five guards ran at him, he used his skills in the ancient arts, and karate, to knock them all back.
Once they were all on the ground, the other Guards now saw a reason not to fight the Champion of the Light.
“I gave you an order!! Get them!!” Celestia yelled.
“Stay where you are!” Came a voice from behind the group of nine ponies and one dragon.
Everypony in the room gasped when they saw who it was: Her mane was long and flowing; she had a while coat, and jewelry on her body. She stood tall as the others gazed upon the pony before them: Princess Celestia.
“Sister…?” Luna asked. She turned to the other one and muttered, “Then…who is…?”
Courageous stepped forward, “I think it is obvious who it is…am I right, Queen of the Changelings?!!!”
Everypony, buffalo, zebra, and gryphon gasped when he said those words. They all turned their gaze towards the messy Celestia, who was snarling at them all.
Just then, the box containing the Arcane Amulet snapped open. The fake Celestia grinned and pulled the box over to her with her magic that glowed with an eerie green. She pulled the amulet out of the box and laughed. “You’re Too Late!!!” She cackled as she rose up into the air and surrounded herself with magic, “YOU’RE TOO LATE!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!”
Everypony gasped in horror as the fake Celestia began to change shape…into something else. Her body was now skinny, all black with holes; her mane was long and wicked; Her wings became insect like, and her horn was large and crooked. Soon the rest of her was revealed as she now floated in the air, holding the amulet she had sought and now acquired.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!” She cackled once more, right as everypony saw her reveal her true identity…
“QUEEN CHRYSALIS!!!!” Everypony shouted once they saw whom it was that was impersonating Princess Celestia, in order to acquire the Arcane Amulet.
“Right you are…fools! Now that I have the Arcane Amulet in my possession, I can finally take Equestria for myself…and have my revenge on all of you at the same time!!” The wicked Queen cackled as she placed the Amulet around her neck.
“No…you won’t!!” Princess Celestia contended, “You may have tricked us all…and imprisoned me to fool the others…but you cannot hope to defeat us all!”
The Queen laughed more, amused by the Princess’s statement, “No, Princess. This time will be much different!” The amulet around her neck glowed, “Twice now you ponies have defeated me: Right here in this very room, and in my own Kingdom. But not this time. This time…EVERYTHING…WILL BE MINE!!!”
Twilight and the others were ready to face her, but Courageous held up his hoof to prevent them from moving closer, “No…”
“Courageous…?” Twilight wondered why he was stopping them.
“That amulet…is very powerful. It has increased her power greatly,” His eyes glowed and he stepped forward, “Right now, she is more powerful than all of you combined.”
“What do we do then?” Shining Armor asked worryingly.
Courageous sighed and stomped his hoof, “I am the only pony capable of stopping her…” He turned to the white stallion, “Protect them with your shield, Shining Armor!!”
Nodding firmly, the Princess conjured his shield spell, keeping everypony in the room safe from the Changeling Queen…at least for now. Courageous was the only pony not protected by the shield. But he did not need it to face the enemy before him.
“Well, Well, Well,” Queen Chrysalis smirked, “If it isn’t Courageous Heart! Despite you discovering my plans a little earlier than I thought, you got here just in time…for phase two!!”
“I don’t care what you have planned, Chrysalis…but if you want to take Equestria, you will have to go through me first!!”
“Oh, I plan to do more than defeat you! But I do promise this, once I am finished with you…my victory will come much quicker!!” Her horn and amulet glowed at the same time, “But now…let us see how my new power stands up to the power of the CHAMPION OF THE LIGHT!!!!”
Courageous Heart stood his ground and was ready for anything. However, the Queen’s eyes now glowed and the Champion felt her power already upon him; She was attempting to control him.
“What is happening?!” Twilight gasped when she saw Courageous struggling.
“Thou is trying to control thy Champion!!” Princess Luna discovered as she and the rest remained protected by Shining Armor’s barrier.
Twilight gasped and wanted to break through and help her coltfriend, but her brother promised to keep her safe. She banged on the barrier, but could not get through, “Don’t you dare do anything to my boyfriend you…you MONSTER!!! Stay away from him!!!”
Queen Chrysalis laughed and ignored the angry unicorn. She landed and walked up to the struggling Courageous and placed her hoof right under his chin, “Yes…give in to my power. Serve me…and become…MY…Champion!!!”
Courageous tried to fight the dark power trying to control him…and then he just froze…and looked at Chrysalis with his eyes closed.
“Yes…”
Twilight shook her head in disbelief, “No…”
Courageous’s eyes shot open, and Queen Chrysalis gasped when she saw his eyes were the same; unchanged by her power. “NEVER!!!” He roared with his booming voice, which pushed the Changeling Queen back a ways.
Everypony there was relieved to see Courageous Heart still himself.
“How is it possible?!!” The Queen was infuriated and confused to why her new power did not turn the Champion into her servant.
Courageous stomped his hoof, “Sorry to disappoint you, but manipulation spells don’t work on me,” He announced, “I will never serve evil…and the Light will ensure that!!”
Chrysalis snarled and growled with much anger.
“Besides, I was trapped in a dark amulet for four-thousand years! Even the Darkness didn’t come close to corrupting me…so I doubt YOU would even have a remote chance of succeeding!!”
The Queen was enraged further; A great part of her plan had failed, but she still had the amulet, “Fine then!! I don’t need you to conquer Equestria!! But I will still remove you from the picture…so nopony can stop me!!”
She aimed her wicked horn at the Champion and fired a power beam of dark magic at him. He countered with a beam of Light. The two beams met and fought to beat the other.
The two struggled and used all they had…but in the end…the Light was the more powerful force here. It pushed back the dark magic coming from Chrysalis and blasted her back against the wall…shattering the amulet in the process.
“NOOO!!!!” She screamed as her one hope of taking this land for her own was destroyed.
Courageous Heart panted a little from the strength he used to fight. Shining Armor lowered his shield once the danger was clear.
Twilight ran up to her boyfriend and hugged him, thankful he was alright and had saved them all.
The others ran to him and were grateful he was safe and had won.
However, Chrysalis suddenly screeched out loud…summoning her changeling army to aid her.
The group of ponies and others all heard the howling of the changelings that were in the disguise as the extra members of the Royal Guard, and had changed back into their standard form and took flight all over the city. Some came to the aid of their Queen, entering the meeting room by crawling down the walls, screeching at their enemies.
Courageous roared at them and stood his ground. Soon, Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Shining Armor, Princess Cadance, Princess Luna, Princess Celestia, Subira, Thunderhooves, the Gryphon Royal Family, and the many little animals gathered around in a circle…ready to face whatever the Changelings were going to throw at them.
With changelings all around them, Courageous snarled and told everypony to hold their ground.
“You will pay for what you have done, Courageous Heart!!” Chrysalis yelled, and was about to order her army to attack them.
“Shining Armor, Now!!” Courageous turned to the while stallion, signaling him to follow the plan they discussed.
Nodding firmly, Shining Armor activated his shield spell once more…only this time it surrounded all of Canterlot. However, once it was up, everypony gasped when they saw all the Changelings still inside.
Chrysalis laughed and assumed that the power she absorbed from the amulet gave her and her army protection from Shining Armor’s magic, ”Your magic has failed you!!”
Courageous Heart chuckled and shook his head, “Actually, what happened was exactly as planned, Chrysalis!”
Everypony, including the Changelings, were completely confused by all this and were hoping or demanding an explanation.
“This was never suppose to keep you out!” Shining Armor revealed, as Courageous Heart finished, “It was suppose to keep you in!”
“What?!!” Chrysalis was now more confused than before, “Why?!!”
The Light shined from Courageous’s horn, “I think you know why! It is time to do what should have been done…so long ago!”
The others had no idea what he meant by all that, but it seemed the Queen did. She gasped and took flight, making her way out the window, “NEVER!!!”
The other Changelings followed, determined to protect their Queen as they would try and find a way to break through the shield and escape.
“What is going on, Courageous? What was that all about?” Princess Celestia demanded to know.
“”I am afraid there is no time for that now, Your Highness. Right now, we need to get to the Queen…and do what needs to be done to put an end to the Changeling threat for good!” The Champion explained.
“How are thou going to pull that off?” Princess Luna questioned.
“What is your plan, Champion?” Chief Thunderhooves asked .
Courageous Heart turned and looked out the window and could see the Changelings everywhere, flying all about. The many real guards of the ponies, zebras, buffalo, and gryphons were doing their best to fight and stop the black insect-like monsters from destroying their home.
“Alright…listen up,” He informed everypony and creature there that were needed to make this work, “We need to get to Queen Chrysalis in order to bring this to an end, but everypony here will need to pitch in…in order to give us the chance to make this happen.”
While there were questions that still needed answering, now was not the time. Everypony listened to the Champions instructions and were ready to carry them out:
“Shining Armor, I need you to stay here and keep your shield spell up for as long as possible.”
The Prince nodded and remained in place, focusing as much as possible to keep his barrier from coming down.
Courageous turned to the Princesses, “Your Majesties…you will stay with Shining Armor and protect him from any Changelings that may try to attack. If they get any close, you drive them back…or drive them out!”
This was the first time ever that somepony was giving an order to the Princesses of Equestria; They were usually the ones that would give the orders, but since this was an important situation, they obeyed and surrounded Shining Armor to protect him.
Courageous turned to Subira, Thunderhooves, and the Gryphons, “ You guys…are gonna need to find a way to slow them down…thin their numbers so we can reach the Queen. You guys have the skill, speed, and strength…use them well.”
Nodding, the group of three species jumped or flew out the window to gather their own troops/warriors to fight the Changelings.
With only Twilight, Spike, and the other mares left, he would give them the most important part, “For us…we need to make our way to Queen Chrysalis…and use the Elements of Harmony on her…in order to end this.”
“But how are we going to do that, Courageous?” Twilight questioned, “Besides, we don’t have the Elements with us.”
“Trust me…the Elements will come to each of you when the time is near,” He assured them, “Right now…let us save Equestria…again!” He smiled.
Twilight smiled and nodded, “Let’s do it girls!”
“Yee-Haw!!” Applejack cheered.
“Let’s show them who’s boss!!” Rainbow cracked her hooves.
“Indeed!” Rarity agreed.
“Oh yes…let’s do it…!” Fluttershy nodded.
“Let’s do it, to it!!” Pinkie hopped in place.
“Ah Yeah!!” Spike said with determination, and jumped on Twilight’s back.
With that, Courageous led the six mares and one dragon out of the palace and into the streets of Canterlot.
The battle of Canterlot had begun.
Courageous Heart, along with Twilight Sparkle and her friends, were galloping down from the Castle gates into the city. They continued to run in hoping to reach their destination. However, there were a large group of Changelings in front of them, blocking their path.
“There are too many of them!” Twilight panicked.
“Not for me!!” The Champion ran right into them and knocked many away with his fighting skills. He then fired a beam of Light to clear the path for them…but saw more coming down from the sky, and knew what he had to do.
“Go!!” He yelled as he took flight. He charged into the swarm of Changelings and got them to follow him instead of the Mane Six.
The girls used this chance to run through the unconscious Changelings and continue towards the Queen.
High above on the roofs of the many buildings, Subira and her zebra archers were firing many powered arrows at the Changelings…putting them to sleep and helping to thin the numbers. The zebra leader noticed the Champion being chased in flight by a swarm. Determined to help him, Subira pulled out an arrow, aimed and waited for the right moment…and fired.
It went right into the heart of that swarm…and the arrow exploded, releasing the sleeping powered all over them. Every Changeling quickly fell from the sky…and to the ground, fast asleep.
Below in the streets, the Buffalo, along with the Gryphons, charged their way through the Changelings that were trying to stop them. But the strength of these great creatures was too much for the swarms to handle.
Thunderhooves led them right on through, clearing a path for the Mane Six. His strength was powerful and pushed back each Changeling that got in his way.
Soon, up ahead, was a larger swarm of the little black creatures; These ones were ready to take down the approaching buffalo, gryphons, and ponies. This time it looked like the Changelings would get the best of them.
Shooting down from the sky, Courageous Heart appeared. His allies and friends cheered as he charged at the Changelings, casting the Light upon them to clear the way.
“MELTEN!!!” He cast a bolt of Light at them, blowing the area up a little.
Soon, there was dust everywhere, with Changelings lying all around, unconscious. Courageous and the others all gathered around as the dust slowly cleared.
“Nice work, Champion…” Thunderhooves praised.
Courageous nodded, then turned and kicked the large buffalo into the wall, knocking him out, “Thanks…but that doesn’t work on me either…” The one he kicked turned out to be a Changeling, trying to use the dust cloud to deceive everypony, but the Champion was not fooled at all…especially when the real Thunderhooves was on the other side of him.
“Okay…we are near there. Let’s go!!” Courageous commanded.
The Mane Six and Spike followed him as the buffalo and gryphons ran the other way, driving off what other Changelings there were.
The group of eight had finally reached the edge of the city and the barrier. They saw the Queen commanding her swarms to break through the barrier so they could escape. But it was already too late. “It’s over, Chrysalis! There is no escaping this time!!” Courageous shouted.
She turned and screeched, then ordered her Changelings to attack them, but most were too afraid to challenge the Champion, knowing that he would just defeat them in mere seconds. “I gave you an order!!” She shouted, but they did not obey.
Twilight and the girls were ready to defeat the Queen once and for all…and they had the opening they needed. But just then, they saw Courageous walking slowly towards her.
“Please…stop this. We don’t have to fight…” He pleaded.
The Queen panted and laughed, “You…fool! You’re attempts to change me will never work! I am the Queen of the Changelings, and I will rule all of Equestria and have everything-”
“Stop it, Chrystala!!” Courageous Heart pleaded with a tear in his eye.
The girls all gasped when they heard him call the Changeling Queen a name that they once heard before. But…it could not be…
The leader of the Changelings gasped and muttered, “W-what…did you…call me…?”
“Courageous…what is going on…?” Twilight was utterly confused.
“That was your name…wasn’t it?” He approached her as she slowly began to land, “A long time ago…you found me in the woods, and took me to your home, where we became friends. Don’t you remember?”
The Queen found it hard to breathe as memories came flooding back to her; Ones she had long forgotten.
“You were my very first friend…until the Darkness came and took me away. They even turned you into the monsters you are now. Don’t you see, Chrystala?…your mother did this to you! You don’t have to keep following her path! You are good, I know you are!!”
She tried to fight it, but what the Champion was saying was all true, “No…No…!!!”
“Yes! You don’t have to be a servant of the Darkness anymore. Let me save you…like I should have all that time ago, but couldn’t. Let me save you now! You are my friend…Princess Chrystala!!”
The Queen screamed and tried to fight against the urge to attack the one pony who was her best friend so long ago. The girls could not believe that Queen Chrysalis was Princess Chrystala this whole time. But if this was true, then they had to help the friend of their friend…and save her from a fate that was forced upon her all that time ago.
Once this was realized, the Elements of Harmony appeared before the six mares. Placing them on, Twilight and her friends were ready.
“By the power of the Light…we, the Guardians of this world…SET YOU FREE!!!” Courageous Heart shouted.
The Elements of Harmony activated, and with the aid of the Champion, the Rainbow of Light formed for the first time in a long time. It shot up into the air, and curved downward…right onto the Changeling Queen.
She yelled as the power of Good surrounded her…and changed her form…and heart.
The once inset-like Changeling…was now in a new form: Her mane was now beautiful and flowing, her horn was now only slightly curved, the holes were gone and so were her wings, which were replaced with feathery ones. On top of all that, her eyes were now yellow instead of green. She looked more pony like, and was a sight that left the heroes there speechless.
As the Queen was changed, the other Changelings were immediately transformed also. They now looked more like ponies then insects, with their wing, eyes, horns and features all returned to the way they were once…four-thousand years ago.
Once the Rainbow of Light vanished, and the danger over, everypony were surprised but were thrilled Canterlot was saved. The Mane Six, along with Spike and Courageous Heart, now stood before the new leader of the reformed Changelings: Queen Chrystala.
“Courageous…?” She muttered, looking upon herself, and feeling good for the first time in what felt like forever.
“You are free, my friend. Never again will you be a servant of the Darkness.” He smiled.
The Queen blinked a tear and hugged him, thanking her old friend for saving her and her kind. She was so happy to be herself again.
The mares and dragon were happy for her also. Even though she had been their enemy for sometime, they were glad she was no longer such; The Changeling Queen was now their ally and friend…one that may take a little while to get use to.
“I’m so sorry…” She tried to apologize to him…and to the mares.
“Don’t be, your Highness,” He explained politely, “It was never you who was doing all this. You have nothing to be sorry for.”
“That’s right. Even after all that you have done before, we will not hate you for it,” Twilight assured.
“Really? You…mean it?” Chrystala was surprised honestly.
“Yes. It is important to forgive those for what they may have done,” She explained, “Holding a grudge against anypony is never right. It is important to forgive them…especially if they wish to make amends for their actions. You made some mistakes, Your Highness…but we are all willing to forgive you and be friends…just as you are with a very special pony of mine.”
The girls all agreed, realizing that Twilight Sparkle was correct.
The Queen was so happy. She wiped her tears and thanked them all. She was so happy to be free…and forgiven by those who were once her enemies. Now, at long last, her kind can have the friends they sought for so long, and the love that would keep them strong.
Later that evening, in the Canterlot throne room, every Pony, Zebra, Buffalo, Gryphon and Changeling had gathered for a special ceremony, to award and congratulate a certain stallion, who’s determination and unquestionable courage, saved them all.
Queen Chrystala, after apologizing to the Canterlot Royal family and many others for what had happened, was forgiven and welcomed into the Kingdom, and would be allowed to live in the Badlands with her kind, which would be rebuilt and would grow to be more beautiful than ever. The Gryphon Royal Family, were now fully welcomed as friends to the Kingdom, as they welcomed the ponies into theirs. The Arcane Amulet, while shattered, had the ability to resort itself and was presented to Twilight Sparkle…who wore it proudly for this ceremony.
Many others gathered to honor the hero who made all this possible. The Step Family, along with the Light Spirits of the family and friends of long ago, were attending to see this wonderful event.
Soon, the guards blew their trumpets as the doors opened, and the Champion of the Light, Courageous Heart, entered with a Royal Guard escort. They led him down the walkway, while the many ponies and creatures waved at him and praised what he had done for them all. He smiled and saw his many family members and friends all around. He was happy for them all, and grateful they were giving him a ceremony in his honor.
Twilight and her friends, all dressed up, stood at the end, where the three Princesses all stood side by side, ready to welcome the Hero of Equestria once more. Shining Armor commanded his troops to salute the Champion as he walked by them.
Soon, Courageous reached the end, where he bowed before the rulers of Equestria.
“Citizens of Equestria…pony, zebra, buffalo, gryphon, dragon, and changeling alike…we are gathered here to give thanks to this amazing pony who has once more gone above and beyond to bring peace and harmony to our Kingdom,” Princess Celestia announced for all.
The Champion smiled and kneeled to them.
“You have done much here this day, Courageous Heart. Not only have to given us a stronger friendship with the Gryphons, but you have brought the Changelings back to the side of good…which is something no pony here would have tried to do.”
The crowd smiled and agreed completely.
“Your wisdom and courage has brought a new era of peace to Equestria…and our of all the rewards I can bestow upon you…I now know there is only one that would fit you well!” She turned to her student and nodded,” Twilight…”
The beautiful lavender unicorn approached her beloved stallion, holding a while and gold uniform for him.
“This is the uniform of the Ambassador of Equestria. His role is to maintain friendly relations with not only the cities and lands across our Kingdom…but those in the far off lands of the world. We believe this is a role that would fit you well, Champion.”
Courageous looked at the uniform, then back at Twilight.
“Do you accept this new role, Courageous Heart?” Princess Celestia asked.
Everypony awaited his response…but it only took a short while for him to answer.
“Yes…I shall. With my duty to the Light and to the creatures all over, I shall take up this role to strengthen our friendship with the kingdoms of far away…and to further help spread the Light across the world!” He stated proudly.
Everypony smiled and Twilight used her magic to place the uniform on him. At that moment, Courageous Heart was now the Ambassador of Equestria.
“All hail, our new Ambassador: Courageous Heart, Champion of the Light!!” The three Princess shouted together.
The girls all congratulated Courageous, while Twilight kissed his cheek. He blushed deeply and turned with them all to the crowd before them.Everypony below applauded and cheered for their Hero and new Ambassador that would help keep the peace between their homelands and kingdoms.
As the group stood proudly together with the Champion and Ambassador, the nearby blank window was now magically changed…into that of an image of Ambassador Courageous Heart, standing proudly with the symbols of every species he has helped, including the Gryphons and Changelings.
This day…was truly a day to remember, as Courageous stood proudly, smiling upon all his friends and family…as they praised his name.
By order of Princess Celestia, Twilight Sparkle, her now former student, was to be placed in a cell with her friends. There, they would remain until the Princess was ready to release them. A guard stood watch over the door to the cell, and was ignoring a certain pony that was annoying him from within.
“Hey, you!” Rainbow Dash tried to get his attention, “Yeah, I’m talking to you, bud! Let us out of here!!!”
The guard continued to ignore the mare with the big mouth.
“Don’t ignore me! I’m talking to you!!”
Applejack grabbed Rainbow and pulled her down from the door, “Pipe down already, Rainbow! It’s not helpin’!”
“I can’t help it, AJ!” Rainbow found that the cell they were in had very little room to fly in. It was all dark brick with no window; Nothing but a small touch kept the room lit, “I need to fly!!”
Applejack shook her head and sighed. She looked on back and saw Pinkie and Fluttershy just sitting there…saddened by what happened; This was one situation that neither of them could fix…even with a smile.
“Will you ruffians shush!” Rarity ordered.
They all turned to the prissy pony and immediately fell silent when they saw her and Spike trying to comfort the tearful Twilight Sparkle over in the corner. Twilight laid upon a small haystack and had her face buried in her arms; Her tears soaked her coat as she wept…wishing this wasn’t happening, “Princess…*sniff*……Celestia…*sniff*…why…?”
Rarity gently stroked her mane and tried everything to help her dear friend. The other ponies felt sad for Twilight; She had just lost her position as Princess Celestia’s star student…and her heart felt shattered.
The little brokenhearted unicorn continued to weep into her arms and could not stop…no matter how much she wanted to. As she cried, she remembered this exact situation that she was in some time ago…and how her beloved stallion came to her and made it all better.
With what strength in her voice that she had, she whispered for him, hoping he would hear her…and come to her rescue. “Courageous. Please…help us. Help…me…”

Far to the north, where the Crystal Empire resided, the many crystal ponies were scurrying about to search the Empire for the missing Royal Messenger and any other imposters that were in disguise. The messenger was eventually found, tied up in a cellar.
Meanwhile, the Champion saw that there were no other imposters in the Empire, thanks to his vision granted to him by the Light. With the all clear, the guards returned to their stations, leaving the Prince and Princess to question all that happened.
“So…how did you know it was an imposter?” Shining Armor curiously asked.
“It is easy, actually,” Courageous Heart explained, “The Light allows me to see through any deception…no matter how well it is done. I could see the true form of the imposter impersonating your messenger.”
“Really? So…you can see through any form of trickery?”
“Yes. As it says in the oath I swore: “No evil shall evade my sight.” Therefore, I can see any evil…in anypony or other.” He confessed.
Cadance and Shining Armor were amazed by this; They even wondered if things would have been different if he were around at their wedding that time ago…but now was not the time to think on that. Suddenly, Courageous gasped and ran to the balcony, and stared out into the distance to the south…towards Canterlot.
“What is it, Courageous?” Cadance asked.
“Twilight…” The Champion whispered with worry.
Shining Armor gasped, “Twili? What’s going on? What happened to my sister?!”
Courageous focused and felt a great disturbance in the Light…coming from Canterlot. He snorted and turned back to the rulers of this Kingdom.
“Well…what was it?” Princess Cadance asked.
“Danger…coming from the Capital,” He nodded firmly, “We have to get back to Canterlot, and fast!”
“Well then, I’m coming with you! I’m not going to let anything happen to Twili,” Shining Armor insisted, “She has saved me on many occasions…and now it’s my turn to do the same.”
Courageous Heart understood and would not turn down Shining Armor’s help.
“Um, dear…you seem to be forgetting that Canterlot is too far away and we will never get there in time…” Cadance reminded her over-determined husband.
“Oh…yeah…sorry dear, I forgot,” He squeed and blushed.
“Actually, we can get there…with the help of the Light,” Courageous revealed.
The two were about to question how that was possible, but after everything they had ever seen the Light do, they did not ask.
“I guess we should round up the troops if we are going to Canterlot…since it is infected with our enemy,” Shining Armor suggested.
Courageous shook his head.
“What do you mean by that?”
He explained, “No army. Just the three of us is enough. This needs to be handled with stealth, not a frontal assault…especially when our enemy is using the same to acquire something that can give them the power to take over Equestria.”
Shining Armor and Princess Cadance knew he was right, but trying to do all this without backup seemed pretty risky.
“Don’t worry. There is already an army in Canterlot that can help us…but I have another that can buy us some time while we mount a rescue,” Courageous informed.
“Who is that?” The Princess curiously asked.
“You will see, but for now we need to get back to Canterlot,” Courageous moved back into the throne room, “Come to me, and I will teleport us to the Capital.”
The two followed and await for Courageous to summon the Light and teleport them to the where the danger was taking place: Their foalhood home of Canterlot.
“But there will be more I will need to inform you on; Things that you may not understand nor agree with, but you must trust me,” Courageous asked for their faith in him.
Shining Armor and Princess Cadance nodded; They trusted him already, and would not deny him now…especially when he uncovered a deception right here in their Kingdom.
“Thank you…” He smiled and summoned the Light, “Here we go!!” The Light surrounded the three ponies, while the guards watched in awe. Courageous Heart chanted the words needed for this, and soon the Light would transport them immediately to Canterlot.

Back in Ponyville, Courageous Heart’s pet and friend, Aquila the golden eagle, slept on the roof of her master’s cottage. She was keeping herself ready for any dangers that may come at anytime. The eagle awoke when she felt the presence of her master through the Light. She relaxed and listened:
“Aquila…I need your help. Gather your friends…stop the meeting in Canterlot. Please…you must prevent the evil there from succeeding…”
Aquila obeyed her master and friend. She flapped her wings and took off. She quickly gathered the pets of the Mane Six: Owlicious the owl, Gummy the alligator, Opal the cat, Winona the dog, Tank the turtle, Angel the bunny, and Pee-Wee the baby Phoenix.
With the strength and speed of Aquila the golden eagle, she carried the group…those that could not fly…towards the city of Canterlot…in hopes to stall the meeting so the Champion could complete his rescue.

The Light flashed lightly and Courageous Heart, Shining Armor, and Princess Cadance found themselves in Canterlot, hiding behind a wall in the Castle grounds. “I can’t believe we were able to reach Canterlot in just seconds…” Shining Armor stated in awe; Never had he experienced the Light’s potential in this way, and it left him almost speechless.
“I have to agree with you, my Shining Armor…” Cadance supported, amazed by such power that makes up all Harmony and Good.
“I’m glad you all admired that…but now we need to stay quiet and find our way to where Twilight and her friends are being held,” Courageous whispered.
The three carefully peeked from where they were hiding and noticed the many Royal Guards patrolling and watching their stations. Shining Armor noticed that there were more of them than he had known during his time as the Captain, “So…I take it that some of the guards…are THEM?”
“Yes…” Courageous confirmed quietly, “If we reveal ourselves to any of the guards, whether they be real or imposters, the whole place could go on alert and all this will end in failure.”
Shining Armor and Cadance agreed.
“Also, remember what I told you that is needed to be done when the time comes…” Courageous reminded.
“Don’t worry…we have not forgotten,” Cadance replied, but then said, “Even though I don’t like it and have to question…why?”
“Trust me…I know them more than you do…because I was once friends with them…”
The two did not have time to argue nor question Courageous’s plan further…not at this time anyway, “Alright…we will follow what you think is best, my friend,” Shining Armor supported.
“Same here…” Cadance agreed as well.
“Thank you…” He smiled, happy that his girlfriend’s brother and sister-in-law had his back in all this, “Alright…this way, follow me.”
Courageous carefully led them through the grounds, avoiding all the guards easily. They had to reach the dungeons as quickly as they could…and hoped to free the girls and reach the meeting in time to stop a powerful creature from taking Equestria for herself.

Meanwhile, in the meeting room, the negotiations were finally complete. The Gryphons were ready to finish this meeting and present the Arcane Amulet to Princess Celestia.
“Well, I must say…this was quite an interesting experience, Princess Celestia,” The Gryphon King admitted.
“Thank you,” The great while alicorn gave her gratitude.
“Despite that little interruption, you really have shown us that you and your Kingdom are more than capable of having an even greater peace and friendship with our own,” The Gryphon Queen assured.
The Princess nodded and smiled, while her sister, Luna, still felt sad for Twilight and the others being thrown in the dungeon like that; She was starting to question Celestia and the decisions she has made recently.
“But will we still get to meet the Champion?” Princess Talona asked with hope.
Princess Celestia answered, “Oh don’t you worry…there will be plenty of time to meet the Champion later.” Her voice sounded a little off.
Princess Luna noticed this and was starting to become more concerned with all this. She was about to speak up when the Guards brought in the cake.
“The cake had arrived, your Majesties!” The guard announced.
Both Subira and Chief Thunderhooves were hungry and were ready to eat; all that negotiating tired them out a little.
“Before we dig in, I think now might be a good time to exchange gifts,” The Princess suggested.
The Gryphon Royal family were originally planning to wait until the Champion arrived before giving the Arcane Amulet to the Princess.
“Uh sister…maybe we should wait until-” Princess Luna tried to speak to her sister.
Princess Celestia slowly turned to her sister. She looked at her and her eyes suddenly glowed green…which made Luna’s do the same, “Wait until what, dear sister?”
“Um…nothing. Now is…a good time…” Luna spoke in a monotone voice, while her eyes remained a little green.
“”Perhaps we should wait, since the hour is not late,” Subira suggested, only to have her own eyes turn green. The zebra representative of Equestria was now rhyming in monotone, “Perhaps now is good, while we enjoy this delicious food.”
Chief Thunderhooves was about to say something, until his own eyes turned green and he just sat there, silently.
The Gryphons were not sure what was going on, but if everypony there thought it was a good time, then so be it. The King pulled out the locked box that had the Amulet in it, and began to work the combination on it that only he and his family knew how to open. While this was being done, none of them noticed Princess Celestia grinning wickedly.

Deep beneath Canterlot Castle, the Mane Six, plus Spike, were still imprisoned in the cell Princess Celestia put them in. Twilight was still crying over losing her role as student to the Princess, while the others tried to comfort her.
Suddenly they heard a noise coming from outside the cell. “Hey! What are you doing in-” The guard spoke, only to be slammed against the wall and knocked unconscious.
Suddenly, the cell door opened and the girls all gasped to whom they saw before them. Twilight looked up and gasped in utter surprise. “Courageous…Shining Armor…Cadance…?” She muttered as she wiped her tears.
“Yes, Twilight…it is us…” Courageous assured her with a warm smile.
Overcome with joy, Twilight got up and ran to embrace her coltfriend. She held him tight and cried, for her pleas for him to come and rescue her were answered.
“It’s okay, Twilight…it’s okay,” He rubbed her head and comforted her in a soft and caring tone.
“No, it’s not…” She sniffed as she held onto her boyfriend, while Shining Armor and Cadance tried to help comfort her too, “I failed Celestia, and now…*sniff*…now I am no longer her student…”
Shining Armor interrupted, “No Twili. what happened was not real. All this has been a trick.”
“What do you mean a trick?” Rainbow asked.
“He means is that everything you discovered to be out of place was correct,” Cadance added.
“I’m a little confused by all this…” Spike admitted, “What are you trying to say?”
“What we are trying to say…is that the one who placed you all in here…was NOT Princess Celestia,” Courageous informed his friends.
The group all gasped, especially Twilight, who released her boyfriend, “What…do you mean…that was not Celestia?”
“That was an imposter…”
“Well, if dats not da Princess…den who da hay is she?” Applejack wanted an answer to help clear up all this confusion.
“Sompony you know well enough…one who had the power to pull all this off,” Courageous tried to explain and help them remember.
The six thought on it a moment, and soon they realized that there was only one who could do this…but before they could answer, Courageous ran out of the cell and towards another. “Where…are you going?” Fluttershy asked.
Courageous knocked down the door and shined some Light on in, “Look…”
Everypony and dragon rush out of the cell and to the other. Once they look inside, they all gasp when they see a familiar pony bound by magical chains to prevent escape of any kind.
“Is that…?” Pinkie asked.
“Oh my word!” Rarity was about to faint; The ugly chains were so horrible, it made her feel lightheaded. Spike was able to catch her before she would faint. Courageous walked inside and was ready to free the imprisoned pony and get them all to the meeting room.

Back in the Meeting room, the Gryphon King was almost finished with the lock combination, “Almost there. I got most of the manual parts done…now the rest will unlock in a moment by itself.”
“That is good…” Princess Celestia smirked. She looked over at the others sitting still with their eyes glowing green, “This is almost too easy. In moments, all of Equestria shall be-” Suddenly, there was a sound of an eagle screeching outside. Celestia looked out at the window and gasped as a golden eagle, along with many other animals from the Castle Gardens, came rushing in…straight towards the Princess.
“What is going on here?!!” The king demanded as he and his family took cover under the table.
“I don’t know…!” Celestia panicked and tried to dodge the animals as they flew around her.
What happened next was a group of monkeys throwing bananas at her. She growled and tried to shoo them away with her magic…until she felt something bite her flank, Celestia screamed, only to be silenced by a watermelon thrown in her face.
She wiped it off and growled at the laughing monkeys, “You foolish creatures! How dare you-”
A group of seals came in and together they bounced Celestia on their noses in the air. She screamed and tried to flap her wings to fly, but could not due to her spinning as they bounced her. The guards tried to stop the animals, but there were too many of them and running all over the place.
“Let Me Down!!!” She demanded.
They obeyed and tossed her right into the cake.
The Gryphons and Guards gasped when they saw the Princess all covered in frosting. It was all over her coat and mane.
She snorted and was about to scream at the top of her lunges as she rose; the animals ruined her mane, and even her makeup. But before she could, the flying animals all pours buckets of waters onto her, soaking and ruining her mane and makeup even more. The enraged alicorn princess summoned her magic, which glowed green, and was about to cast a spell that would remove the animals from the room…until she smelt something burning.
She gasped when she turned and saw the Phoenix, Philomena, breathing a small amount of fire onto the one she knows is not her master. Celestia screamed and slipped on the wet floor, and fell into the cake again.

Suddenly, the doors to the Meeting room burst open and a total of ten creatures were now before the Gryphons and the messy Princess Celestia.
“DIGON!!!” The Champion yelled, which forced the animals to stop doing what he ordered them to. His voice even brought Princess Luna, Thunderhooves, and Subira out of the spell they were under.
Celestia rose up and growled, “What is the meaning of this intrusion?!!”
“We are here to put an end to your plans…once and for all!!” Twilight yelled.
“How dare you speak to me that way, Twilight Sparkle!!” She pointed her hoof at them, “Guards, seize them all!!”
Many were shocked to hear the Princess order such a thing. Some of the Guards were confused, but the rest charged at them. Courageous stepped forward and when the five guards ran at him, he used his skills in the ancient arts, and karate, to knock them all back.
Once they were all on the ground, the other Guards now saw a reason not to fight the Champion of the Light.
“I gave you an order!! Get them!!” Celestia yelled.
“Stay where you are!” Came a voice from behind the group of nine ponies and one dragon.
Everypony in the room gasped when they saw who it was: Her mane was long and flowing; she had a while coat, and jewelry on her body. She stood tall as the others gazed upon the pony before them: Princess Celestia.
“Sister…?” Luna asked. She turned to the other one and muttered, “Then…who is…?”
Courageous stepped forward, “I think it is obvious who it is…am I right, Queen of the Changelings?!!!”
Everypony, buffalo, zebra, and gryphon gasped when he said those words. They all turned their gaze towards the messy Celestia, who was snarling at them all.
Just then, the box containing the Arcane Amulet snapped open. The fake Celestia grinned and pulled the box over to her with her magic that glowed with an eerie green. She pulled the amulet out of the box and laughed. “You’re Too Late!!!” She cackled as she rose up into the air and surrounded herself with magic, “YOU’RE TOO LATE!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!”
Everypony gasped in horror as the fake Celestia began to change shape…into something else. Her body was now skinny, all black with holes; her mane was long and wicked; Her wings became insect like, and her horn was large and crooked. Soon the rest of her was revealed as she now floated in the air, holding the amulet she had sought and now acquired.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!” She cackled once more, right as everypony saw her reveal her true identity…

“QUEEN CHRYSALIS!!!!” Everypony shouted once they saw whom it was that was impersonating Princess Celestia, in order to acquire the Arcane Amulet.
“Right you are…fools! Now that I have the Arcane Amulet in my possession, I can finally take Equestria for myself…and have my revenge on all of you at the same time!!” The wicked Queen cackled as she placed the Amulet around her neck.
“No…you won’t!!” Princess Celestia contended, “You may have tricked us all…and imprisoned me to fool the others…but you cannot hope to defeat us all!”
The Queen laughed more, amused by the Princess’s statement, “No, Princess. This time will be much different!” The amulet around her neck glowed, “Twice now you ponies have defeated me: Right here in this very room, and in my own Kingdom. But not this time. This time…EVERYTHING…WILL BE MINE!!!”
Twilight and the others were ready to face her, but Courageous held up his hoof to prevent them from moving closer, “No…”
“Courageous…?” Twilight wondered why he was stopping them.
“That amulet…is very powerful. It has increased her power greatly,” His eyes glowed and he stepped forward, “Right now, she is more powerful than all of you combined.”
“What do we do then?” Shining Armor asked worryingly.
Courageous sighed and stomped his hoof, “I am the only pony capable of stopping her…” He turned to the white stallion, “Protect them with your shield, Shining Armor!!”
Nodding firmly, the Princess conjured his shield spell, keeping everypony in the room safe from the Changeling Queen…at least for now. Courageous was the only pony not protected by the shield. But he did not need it to face the enemy before him.
“Well, Well, Well,” Queen Chrysalis smirked, “If it isn’t Courageous Heart! Despite you discovering my plans a little earlier than I thought, you got here just in time…for phase two!!”
“I don’t care what you have planned, Chrysalis…but if you want to take Equestria, you will have to go through me first!!”
“Oh, I plan to do more than defeat you! But I do promise this, once I am finished with you…my victory will come much quicker!!” Her horn and amulet glowed at the same time, “But now…let us see how my new power stands up to the power of the CHAMPION OF THE LIGHT!!!!”
Courageous Heart stood his ground and was ready for anything. However, the Queen’s eyes now glowed and the Champion felt her power already upon him; She was attempting to control him.
“What is happening?!” Twilight gasped when she saw Courageous struggling.
“Thou is trying to control thy Champion!!” Princess Luna discovered as she and the rest remained protected by Shining Armor’s barrier.
Twilight gasped and wanted to break through and help her coltfriend, but her brother promised to keep her safe. She banged on the barrier, but could not get through, “Don’t you dare do anything to my boyfriend you…you MONSTER!!! Stay away from him!!!”
Queen Chrysalis laughed and ignored the angry unicorn. She landed and walked up to the struggling Courageous and placed her hoof right under his chin, “Yes…give in to my power. Serve me…and become…MY…Champion!!!”
Courageous tried to fight the dark power trying to control him…and then he just froze…and looked at Chrysalis with his eyes closed.
“Yes…”
Twilight shook her head in disbelief, “No…”
Courageous’s eyes shot open, and Queen Chrysalis gasped when she saw his eyes were the same; unchanged by her power. “NEVER!!!” He roared with his booming voice, which pushed the Changeling Queen back a ways.
Everypony there was relieved to see Courageous Heart still himself.
“How is it possible?!!” The Queen was infuriated and confused to why her new power did not turn the Champion into her servant.
Courageous stomped his hoof, “Sorry to disappoint you, but manipulation spells don’t work on me,” He announced, “I will never serve evil…and the Light will ensure that!!”
Chrysalis snarled and growled with much anger.
“Besides, I was trapped in a dark amulet for four-thousand years! Even the Darkness didn’t come close to corrupting me…so I doubt YOU would even have a remote chance of succeeding!!”
The Queen was enraged further; A great part of her plan had failed, but she still had the amulet, “Fine then!! I don’t need you to conquer Equestria!! But I will still remove you from the picture…so nopony can stop me!!”
She aimed her wicked horn at the Champion and fired a power beam of dark magic at him. He countered with a beam of Light. The two beams met and fought to beat the other.
The two struggled and used all they had…but in the end…the Light was the more powerful force here. It pushed back the dark magic coming from Chrysalis and blasted her back against the wall…shattering the amulet in the process.
“NOOO!!!!” She screamed as her one hope of taking this land for her own was destroyed.
Courageous Heart panted a little from the strength he used to fight. Shining Armor lowered his shield once the danger was clear.
Twilight ran up to her boyfriend and hugged him, thankful he was alright and had saved them all.
The others ran to him and were grateful he was safe and had won.
However, Chrysalis suddenly screeched out loud…summoning her changeling army to aid her.
The group of ponies and others all heard the howling of the changelings that were in the disguise as the extra members of the Royal Guard, and had changed back into their standard form and took flight all over the city. Some came to the aid of their Queen, entering the meeting room by crawling down the walls, screeching at their enemies.
Courageous roared at them and stood his ground. Soon, Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Shining Armor, Princess Cadance, Princess Luna, Princess Celestia, Subira, Thunderhooves, the Gryphon Royal Family, and the many little animals gathered around in a circle…ready to face whatever the Changelings were going to throw at them.
With changelings all around them, Courageous snarled and told everypony to hold their ground.
“You will pay for what you have done, Courageous Heart!!” Chrysalis yelled, and was about to order her army to attack them.
“Shining Armor, Now!!” Courageous turned to the while stallion, signaling him to follow the plan they discussed.
Nodding firmly, Shining Armor activated his shield spell once more…only this time it surrounded all of Canterlot. However, once it was up, everypony gasped when they saw all the Changelings still inside.
Chrysalis laughed and assumed that the power she absorbed from the amulet gave her and her army protection from Shining Armor’s magic, ”Your magic has failed you!!”
Courageous Heart chuckled and shook his head, “Actually, what happened was exactly as planned, Chrysalis!”
Everypony, including the Changelings, were completely confused by all this and were hoping or demanding an explanation.
“This was never suppose to keep you out!” Shining Armor revealed, as Courageous Heart finished, “It was suppose to keep you in!”
“What?!!” Chrysalis was now more confused than before, “Why?!!”
The Light shined from Courageous’s horn, “I think you know why! It is time to do what should have been done…so long ago!”
The others had no idea what he meant by all that, but it seemed the Queen did. She gasped and took flight, making her way out the window, “NEVER!!!”
The other Changelings followed, determined to protect their Queen as they would try and find a way to break through the shield and escape.

“What is going on, Courageous? What was that all about?” Princess Celestia demanded to know.
“”I am afraid there is no time for that now, Your Highness. Right now, we need to get to the Queen…and do what needs to be done to put an end to the Changeling threat for good!” The Champion explained.
“How are thou going to pull that off?” Princess Luna questioned.
“What is your plan, Champion?” Chief Thunderhooves asked .
Courageous Heart turned and looked out the window and could see the Changelings everywhere, flying all about. The many real guards of the ponies, zebras, buffalo, and gryphons were doing their best to fight and stop the black insect-like monsters from destroying their home.
“Alright…listen up,” He informed everypony and creature there that were needed to make this work, “We need to get to Queen Chrysalis in order to bring this to an end, but everypony here will need to pitch in…in order to give us the chance to make this happen.”
While there were questions that still needed answering, now was not the time. Everypony listened to the Champions instructions and were ready to carry them out:
“Shining Armor, I need you to stay here and keep your shield spell up for as long as possible.”
The Prince nodded and remained in place, focusing as much as possible to keep his barrier from coming down.
Courageous turned to the Princesses, “Your Majesties…you will stay with Shining Armor and protect him from any Changelings that may try to attack. If they get any close, you drive them back…or drive them out!”
This was the first time ever that somepony was giving an order to the Princesses of Equestria; They were usually the ones that would give the orders, but since this was an important situation, they obeyed and surrounded Shining Armor to protect him.
Courageous turned to Subira, Thunderhooves, and the Gryphons, “ You guys…are gonna need to find a way to slow them down…thin their numbers so we can reach the Queen. You guys have the skill, speed, and strength…use them well.”
Nodding, the group of three species jumped or flew out the window to gather their own troops/warriors to fight the Changelings.
With only Twilight, Spike, and the other mares left, he would give them the most important part, “For us…we need to make our way to Queen Chrysalis…and use the Elements of Harmony on her…in order to end this.”
“But how are we going to do that, Courageous?” Twilight questioned, “Besides, we don’t have the Elements with us.”
“Trust me…the Elements will come to each of you when the time is near,” He assured them, “Right now…let us save Equestria…again!” He smiled.
Twilight smiled and nodded, “Let’s do it girls!”
“Yee-Haw!!” Applejack cheered.
“Let’s show them who’s boss!!” Rainbow cracked her hooves.
“Indeed!” Rarity agreed.
“Oh yes…let’s do it…!” Fluttershy nodded.
“Let’s do it, to it!!” Pinkie hopped in place.
“Ah Yeah!!” Spike said with determination, and jumped on Twilight’s back.
With that, Courageous led the six mares and one dragon out of the palace and into the streets of Canterlot.

The battle of Canterlot had begun.
Courageous Heart, along with Twilight Sparkle and her friends, were galloping down from the Castle gates into the city. They continued to run in hoping to reach their destination. However, there were a large group of Changelings in front of them, blocking their path.
“There are too many of them!” Twilight panicked.
“Not for me!!” The Champion ran right into them and knocked many away with his fighting skills. He then fired a beam of Light to clear the path for them…but saw more coming down from the sky, and knew what he had to do.
“Go!!” He yelled as he took flight. He charged into the swarm of Changelings and got them to follow him instead of the Mane Six.
The girls used this chance to run through the unconscious Changelings and continue towards the Queen.
High above on the roofs of the many buildings, Subira and her zebra archers were firing many powered arrows at the Changelings…putting them to sleep and helping to thin the numbers. The zebra leader noticed the Champion being chased in flight by a swarm. Determined to help him, Subira pulled out an arrow, aimed and waited for the right moment…and fired.
It went right into the heart of that swarm…and the arrow exploded, releasing the sleeping powered all over them. Every Changeling quickly fell from the sky…and to the ground, fast asleep.
Below in the streets, the Buffalo, along with the Gryphons, charged their way through the Changelings that were trying to stop them. But the strength of these great creatures was too much for the swarms to handle.
Thunderhooves led them right on through, clearing a path for the Mane Six. His strength was powerful and pushed back each Changeling that got in his way.
Soon, up ahead, was a larger swarm of the little black creatures; These ones were ready to take down the approaching buffalo, gryphons, and ponies. This time it looked like the Changelings would get the best of them.
Shooting down from the sky, Courageous Heart appeared. His allies and friends cheered as he charged at the Changelings, casting the Light upon them to clear the way.
“MELTEN!!!” He cast a bolt of Light at them, blowing the area up a little.
Soon, there was dust everywhere, with Changelings lying all around, unconscious. Courageous and the others all gathered around as the dust slowly cleared.
“Nice work, Champion…” Thunderhooves praised.
Courageous nodded, then turned and kicked the large buffalo into the wall, knocking him out, “Thanks…but that doesn’t work on me either…” The one he kicked turned out to be a Changeling, trying to use the dust cloud to deceive everypony, but the Champion was not fooled at all…especially when the real Thunderhooves was on the other side of him.
“Okay…we are near there. Let’s go!!” Courageous commanded.
The Mane Six and Spike followed him as the buffalo and gryphons ran the other way, driving off what other Changelings there were.

The group of eight had finally reached the edge of the city and the barrier. They saw the Queen commanding her swarms to break through the barrier so they could escape. But it was already too late. “It’s over, Chrysalis! There is no escaping this time!!” Courageous shouted.
She turned and screeched, then ordered her Changelings to attack them, but most were too afraid to challenge the Champion, knowing that he would just defeat them in mere seconds. “I gave you an order!!” She shouted, but they did not obey.
Twilight and the girls were ready to defeat the Queen once and for all…and they had the opening they needed. But just then, they saw Courageous walking slowly towards her.
“Please…stop this. We don’t have to fight…” He pleaded.
The Queen panted and laughed, “You…fool! You’re attempts to change me will never work! I am the Queen of the Changelings, and I will rule all of Equestria and have everything-”
“Stop it, Chrystala!!” Courageous Heart pleaded with a tear in his eye.
The girls all gasped when they heard him call the Changeling Queen a name that they once heard before. But…it could not be…
The leader of the Changelings gasped and muttered, “W-what…did you…call me…?”
“Courageous…what is going on…?” Twilight was utterly confused.
“That was your name…wasn’t it?” He approached her as she slowly began to land, “A long time ago…you found me in the woods, and took me to your home, where we became friends. Don’t you remember?”
The Queen found it hard to breathe as memories came flooding back to her; Ones she had long forgotten.
“You were my very first friend…until the Darkness came and took me away. They even turned you into the monsters you are now. Don’t you see, Chrystala?…your mother did this to you! You don’t have to keep following her path! You are good, I know you are!!”
She tried to fight it, but what the Champion was saying was all true, “No…No…!!!”
“Yes! You don’t have to be a servant of the Darkness anymore. Let me save you…like I should have all that time ago, but couldn’t. Let me save you now! You are my friend…Princess Chrystala!!”
The Queen screamed and tried to fight against the urge to attack the one pony who was her best friend so long ago. The girls could not believe that Queen Chrysalis was Princess Chrystala this whole time. But if this was true, then they had to help the friend of their friend…and save her from a fate that was forced upon her all that time ago.
Once this was realized, the Elements of Harmony appeared before the six mares. Placing them on, Twilight and her friends were ready.
“By the power of the Light…we, the Guardians of this world…SET YOU FREE!!!” Courageous Heart shouted.
The Elements of Harmony activated, and with the aid of the Champion, the Rainbow of Light formed for the first time in a long time. It shot up into the air, and curved downward…right onto the Changeling Queen.
She yelled as the power of Good surrounded her…and changed her form…and heart.
The once inset-like Changeling…was now in a new form: Her mane was now beautiful and flowing, her horn was now only slightly curved, the holes were gone and so were her wings, which were replaced with feathery ones. On top of all that, her eyes were now yellow instead of green. She looked more pony like, and was a sight that left the heroes there speechless.
As the Queen was changed, the other Changelings were immediately transformed also. They now looked more like ponies then insects, with their wing, eyes, horns and features all returned to the way they were once…four-thousand years ago.
Once the Rainbow of Light vanished, and the danger over, everypony were surprised but were thrilled Canterlot was saved. The Mane Six, along with Spike and Courageous Heart, now stood before the new leader of the reformed Changelings: Queen Chrystala.
“Courageous…?” She muttered, looking upon herself, and feeling good for the first time in what felt like forever.
“You are free, my friend. Never again will you be a servant of the Darkness.” He smiled.
The Queen blinked a tear and hugged him, thanking her old friend for saving her and her kind. She was so happy to be herself again.
The mares and dragon were happy for her also. Even though she had been their enemy for sometime, they were glad she was no longer such; The Changeling Queen was now their ally and friend…one that may take a little while to get use to.
“I’m so sorry…” She tried to apologize to him…and to the mares.
“Don’t be, your Highness,” He explained politely, “It was never you who was doing all this. You have nothing to be sorry for.”
“That’s right. Even after all that you have done before, we will not hate you for it,” Twilight assured.
“Really? You…mean it?” Chrystala was surprised honestly.
“Yes. It is important to forgive those for what they may have done,” She explained, “Holding a grudge against anypony is never right. It is important to forgive them…especially if they wish to make amends for their actions. You made some mistakes, Your Highness…but we are all willing to forgive you and be friends…just as you are with a very special pony of mine.”
The girls all agreed, realizing that Twilight Sparkle was correct.
The Queen was so happy. She wiped her tears and thanked them all. She was so happy to be free…and forgiven by those who were once her enemies. Now, at long last, her kind can have the friends they sought for so long, and the love that would keep them strong.

Later that evening, in the Canterlot throne room, every Pony, Zebra, Buffalo, Gryphon and Changeling had gathered for a special ceremony, to award and congratulate a certain stallion, who’s determination and unquestionable courage, saved them all.
Queen Chrystala, after apologizing to the Canterlot Royal family and many others for what had happened, was forgiven and welcomed into the Kingdom, and would be allowed to live in the Badlands with her kind, which would be rebuilt and would grow to be more beautiful than ever. The Gryphon Royal Family, were now fully welcomed as friends to the Kingdom, as they welcomed the ponies into theirs. The Arcane Amulet, while shattered, had the ability to resort itself and was presented to Twilight Sparkle…who wore it proudly for this ceremony.
Many others gathered to honor the hero who made all this possible. The Step Family, along with the Light Spirits of the family and friends of long ago, were attending to see this wonderful event.
Soon, the guards blew their trumpets as the doors opened, and the Champion of the Light, Courageous Heart, entered with a Royal Guard escort. They led him down the walkway, while the many ponies and creatures waved at him and praised what he had done for them all. He smiled and saw his many family members and friends all around. He was happy for them all, and grateful they were giving him a ceremony in his honor.
Twilight and her friends, all dressed up, stood at the end, where the three Princesses all stood side by side, ready to welcome the Hero of Equestria once more. Shining Armor commanded his troops to salute the Champion as he walked by them.
Soon, Courageous reached the end, where he bowed before the rulers of Equestria.
“Citizens of Equestria…pony, zebra, buffalo, gryphon, dragon, and changeling alike…we are gathered here to give thanks to this amazing pony who has once more gone above and beyond to bring peace and harmony to our Kingdom,” Princess Celestia announced for all.
The Champion smiled and kneeled to them.
“You have done much here this day, Courageous Heart. Not only have to given us a stronger friendship with the Gryphons, but you have brought the Changelings back to the side of good…which is something no pony here would have tried to do.”
The crowd smiled and agreed completely.
“Your wisdom and courage has brought a new era of peace to Equestria…and our of all the rewards I can bestow upon you…I now know there is only one that would fit you well!” She turned to her student and nodded,” Twilight…”
The beautiful lavender unicorn approached her beloved stallion, holding a while and gold uniform for him.
“This is the uniform of the Ambassador of Equestria. His role is to maintain friendly relations with not only the cities and lands across our Kingdom…but those in the far off lands of the world. We believe this is a role that would fit you well, Champion.”
Courageous looked at the uniform, then back at Twilight.
“Do you accept this new role, Courageous Heart?” Princess Celestia asked.
Everypony awaited his response…but it only took a short while for him to answer.
“Yes…I shall. With my duty to the Light and to the creatures all over, I shall take up this role to strengthen our friendship with the kingdoms of far away…and to further help spread the Light across the world!” He stated proudly.
Everypony smiled and Twilight used her magic to place the uniform on him. At that moment, Courageous Heart was now the Ambassador of Equestria.
“All hail, our new Ambassador: Courageous Heart, Champion of the Light!!” The three Princess shouted together.
The girls all congratulated Courageous, while Twilight kissed his cheek. He blushed deeply and turned with them all to the crowd before them.Everypony below applauded and cheered for their Hero and new Ambassador that would help keep the peace between their homelands and kingdoms.
As the group stood proudly together with the Champion and Ambassador, the nearby blank window was now magically changed…into that of an image of Ambassador Courageous Heart, standing proudly with the symbols of every species he has helped, including the Gryphons and Changelings.
This day…was truly a day to remember, as Courageous stood proudly, smiling upon all his friends and family…as they praised his name.
