The restored dragon rose onto his four claws and stretched out his wings. After all that he had been through, Spike was thankful to be himself again; freed from the Darkness that bound him for some time. Rarity and Twilight wiped the tears from their eyes and smiled upon their dear friend. The very dragon they both cherished was with them again.

    “Twilight. Rarity. I’m…I’m sorry-”

Rarity rushed up to him and places her hoof on his lips, “Don’t you dare apologize, Spikey-Wikey. You have nothing to be sorry for.”

Twilight smiled, “She’s right, Spike. It was Tirek that made you do those thing. You did nothing wrong.”

Spike nodded as Rarity removed her hoof, “I know, but…” He sighed lightly, “…I tired to fight it, but the Darkness was too strong. I could see everything that was happening, but could not control my body or actions. I really wish you did cast that spell on me. I could have hurt the two of you.”

Twilight came up and hugged him, “No Spike….” the lavender unicorn said softly, “I would never do that to you, even if it was a small immobilization spell. I am glad Rarity stopped me. If she didn’t, then I would have missed on purpose.”

Spike sniffed and a tear ran down his eye, “Twilight…”

"I love you, Spike. You are my best friend, and number one assistant,” Twilight hugged him as much as she could, “I would never use my magic against you. Even when you became possessed by greed on your last birthday, I made a promise that I would find another way to save you.”

Rarity smiled, “Twilight speaks the truth, Spikey-Wikey. She told me of it some time after that day.” The white unicorn joined her friend in hugging their dragon, “I am so happy that you kept your promise, Twilight…even when I tried to stop you.”

    Twilight smiled, “Thank you, Rarity.”

Rarity nodded and returned to hugging Spike. The large green and purple dragon was so happy to have friends like them: kind and caring. As he hugged the two mares, he made a vow to himself, that he would never leave their sides ever again. This dragon would stay with them forever, for they were his friends…and family.

After a while of letting of their feelings out, the two unicorns told Spike everything of what had happened to the other four and their quest to seek the aid of other creatures to battle the Darkness. The dragon listened well, and once Rarity and Twilight finished, he spoke:

    “I see. Wow, that’s…some mission.”

Twilight nodded, “Its true, Spike. While it may seem like a long shot, we have to ask the dragons in the Badlands for help.”

Spike snorted a little, “I doubt they would be much help at all. I mean, don’t you remember what they did the last time we were there?”

Rarity sighed, “Of course we do, darling. Although those dragons were mean and just plain rude to you, we don’t have any other options.”

Twilight knew how Spike felt about those dragons that bullied him, and came up to him and gave him a gentle pat with her hoof, “It’ll be okay, Spike. I mean, you’ll protect us, won’t you?”

The green and purple dragon quickly realized that he was bigger then before and would be able to protect the two unicorns from any of the dragons they would soon encounter, “You’re right, Twilight. I will protect you and Rarity.”

The two mares smiled at their best friend. Suddenly, they turned around once a loud crack of thunder was heard from the north, towards home.

    “W-What…was that?” Rarity asked nervously.

“I don’t know, Rarity.” Twilight shrugged.

Spike gasped all of a sudden; it seemed he knew what was going on, “Oh no.”

"What is it, Spikey?” Rarity asked her dear dragon.

“We need to get moving…Now!” Spike lowered himself down so both Twilight and Rarity could climb onto his back, “Get on! I’ll can get us to the Badlands faster this way.”

Before the two mares could ask him what was going on, the thunder boomed again, louder this time. They quickly climbed onto his back and held on tight. Spike flapped his wings and took off into the sky, towards the south.

“Spike, please tell us. What is wrong?” Twilight begged.

As Spike flew faster, he turned his head to look at his friend, “I can…sense him.” The dragon explained, “He is…angry. We have to hurry!”

Twilight and Rarity could hear more thunder cracking and realized Spike was right: The Master of Darkness was angry, no doubt at them for freeing Spike. The dragon picked up speed and flew on towards the Badlands, where the dragons resided.

High above on the mountain that stood tall in the center of all Equestria; overlooking the dark town that was once the beautiful Ponyville, as well as the city within the storm clouds known as Cloudsdale, stood the mighty fortress of Midnight Castle, where the Master of Darkness reigned.

Tirek’s conquest of was nearly complete: northern and middle Equestria, and all who resided there, were now under his control. The south he ignored since it held little interest for him…until he felt like taking it.

The rest of the world beyond the shores of this once beautiful country, were facing an invasion of dark and evil creatures that quickly gave their complete loyalty to the Overlord of Evil. It would only be a matter of time before the entire world would be covered in Darkness, and every creature would bow before him.

But all this, for reasons unknown, did not satisfy him. Just when Tirek thought nothing could interfere with his plans, only moments ago did one of his servants break free from his control. This brought much anger to him, and it caused the storm clouds to grow louder and more terrifying. His servants cowered in fear.

“HOW CAN THIS BEEEEEE!?!?!?!” Tirek roared with such volume in his voice.

As his temper rose, the ponies and creatures all near and far hid to avoid his wrath. Lightning struck the ground everywhere, and the thunder boomed so loud that it echoed throughout Equestria. The walls throughout his castle shook and some crumbled; the mere sound of his voice and the stomping of his hooves were enough to tear it all down in moments. He did not care one bit if he did, for he would just remake it in an instant.

“RRRAAAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!” Tirek continued to let out his anger, “IT’S…IMPOSSIBLE!!!”

After releasing so much power and energy, he started to calm down a little. The storms started to as well, to which the cowering ponies came out of hiding and returned to where they were posted; they knew and wished not to anger their Master further. “HOW COULD IT BE?! HOW COULD ONE LITTLE PONY, BREAK MY HOLD OVER A SERVANT…THAT I MYSELF CORRUPTED!?!?” Tirek asked himself.

His power was so great, and although he cared nothing for the dragon he once called his pet, the issue of how one of his own servants could have been set free from the power of Darkness that he wielded. “IT IS IMPOSSIBLE! NO MERE CREATURE IN THIS WORLD HAS THE STRENGTH TO CHALLENGE MY POWER!!” Tirek pondered to himself as he walked around his throne room, “THE DARKNESS IS UNSTOPPABLE, FOR I AM…THE DARKNESS."

Tirek thought more on it and suddenly came to conclusion, “NO PONY COULD HAVE THIS POWER…UNLESS…” Tirek gasped, grabbed the amulet he wore around his neck and stared at the dark gem that resided in the middle.

He gazed further into it, and from the darkness within, a small light glowed dimly. Upon seeing this, he growled with much anger, but then it turned to a nefarious laugh. “HAHAHAHAHA….” the demon centaur found whatever was on mind, to be very amusing, “SO THAT’S YOUR PLAN, ISN’T IT?" Tirek released his amulet and walked back to his throne and sat down.

“YOU THINK YOU CAN FIND A WAY TO DEFEAT ME…THROUGH ANOTHER?! I DON’T THINK SO!” Tirek said out loud, apparently to somepony but not anypony nearby, not even the two former princesses that stood by his side, “NEXT TIME YOU TRY SOMETHING, I WILL SEE TO IT YOU ARE REMOVED…FOREVER!!”

As he finished speaking, he chuckled wickedly, until he heard a knock coming from the throne room doors.

The Captain of the Dark Guard, Shining Armor, entered and kneeled before his Master, “Forgive my intrusion, my Emperor…but we have caught the one you ordered us to find.”

Tirek scratched his chin and waved his hand, “WHY ARE YOU JUST STANDING THERE TELLING ME THIS, CAPTAIN? BRING HIM IN!!”

The white, blue maned stallion rose up and ordered his guards to bring in their newest captive. As they entered, holding the chains that held the prisoner in place, Tirek gazed upon this creature that he would soon replace his dragon with.

This strange creature had the head of a pony, but the rest of him was a mix of different animals. Once he was known as the Master of Chaos and Disharmony, until he saw the error of his ways and chose friendship over that which he enjoyed. But now, he was a prisoner to the Overlord.

“YOU…ARE THE ONE CALLED DISCORD, CORRECT?!” Tirek demanded to know.

Discord, chained as he was, just shrugged and answered sarcastically, “Depends on who’s asking, though that would be you obviously.” He then stood up a little, “I must say, is this anyway to treat your guests? I’ve seen ponies give better house warming parties then this.”

Tirek sat there, not amused by this. In his mind, he saw this sad excuse of a creature as nothing more then a failure and a mockery to evil. He waved his hand, to which the guards removed the chains, freeing Discord.

Stretching, the draconequus groaned, “Well, its about time! Chains don’t really work well for me, although they are a step up from being turned to stone. At least there are some movement privileges-” Discord’s eyes widened when he saw the two familiar Alicorn bodyguards standing next to the throne, “Is that you, Celestia?” The former princess said nothing, “Heh, that is some makeover. Although your new hairstyle doesn’t really go well with your eyes, you certainly-”

“SILENCE!!!” Tirek roared with the thunder cracking at the same time.

Discord was only intimidated a little, but snapped back, “Ooooo, you can make lightning strike. Sorry, been there…done that. Come on, your little attempt to scare me doesn't even come close as a shock to-”

Tirek raised his hand and aimed it at the annoying creature. Suddenly, lightning shot out of his hand and struck Discord. Once he finished, the lightning disappeared and the former Master of Chaos was shaking.

“Okay…” Discord coughed up a little smoke, “That…was…shocking…to say…the least.”

Discord stopped shivering and snorted, “Who cares what you think, Mr. I’m-so-evil-I-can-do-anything-I-want.” He then started to mock the centaur, “Ooo look at me, I’m Tirek. I’m so big and powerful, I got my head in the storm clouds. FEAR MY POWER!!” Discord laughed hard, but the demon centaur had enough and reached out his hand and grabbed the creature with his power, silencing him immediately.

Discord tried to break free, but to no avail, “Ha! You underestimating them will be your downfall, Tirek. Trust me, you will fall before this is over.”

“NOTHING CAN STOP ME…NOT EVEN YOU!“ Tirek’s eyes glowed with a dark energy and grinned, “YOU WILL REJOIN THE SIDE OF EVIL…AND SERVE!! YOUR!! MASTER!!!!”

The energy from Tirek’s eyes shot out and right into the vulnerable draconequus’s own eyes. He yelled as the Darkness entered him, transforming him in a minion of evil once again, only this time…Discord would become more evil then ever before, and serve his new Master without question. As the transformation continued, Tirek laughed nefariously. It echoed throughout all of the surrounding area around his Kingdom of Evil.
Spike is now free and has joined his friends Twilight and Rarity on their quest to ask the dragons for help against the Darkness. But meanwhile, Tirek has found himself a new minion to serve him, with or without his free will: Discord, the former master of chaos.

Next chapter: the two unicorns and one dragon will reach the Badlands and the dragons.

Nah. Should be the other way around.

Why's that? Discord was warning him not to underestimate the mane 6 & that they will defeat him

Oh yeah, that part.

Yes I agree, he should.

See? When the Lord of Chaos gives good advice it should be listened to since HOW long has Discord been dealing with them?

- Harmony and Chaos are less powerful than Darkness and Light.

Courageous-of-Light Featured By Owner Feb 11, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
From your response, you seem confused:

Harmony and Chaos are but a small fraction of what makes up Good and Evil. Discord is, or was, the master of chaos, while Tirek is the Darkness, a.k.a. the embodiment of Evil.

If you have more questions on the subject, the answers will be revealed in a few chapters from now. I like to keep my viewers guessing.

"Harmony and Chaos are but a small fraction of what makes up Good and Evil."

So there are different aspects of each? Interesting...

Your Welcome!

Keeping the viewers guessing is a natural part of writing a story, otherwise it would not be as interesting.

All will be revealed before the story ends, that I promise!
